About Me

Yoga and The Art of Exercise

Welcome to my website. I am a working mom who teaches yoga downtown. My yoga studio often features the art of local artists on its walls. I love everything that makes life more beautiful, which includes both art and yoga. I created this website to share my love of both of these things, but posts will lean more heavily towards exercise topics. Even if yoga is too "zen" for you, there are other forms of exercise that can help you appreciate the beauty of the world around you, including running and hiking. Read on for tips, tricks and encouraging posts.

Customizing A Fitness Training Program For You

Everyone is unique; the same goes for your fitness requirements and capabilities. The best way to succeed with a fitness regimen is to allow a professional to customize one specifically for you. One of the most significant issues with fitness programs, and why so many fail when attempting them, is that there's a one-size-fits-all approach that isn't logical or effective.

Here are some things that a professional fitness trainer will consider when creating a custom fitness training program for you:

Your Age

Age is just a number, but you should still consider it when creating a fitness training program. Your age will affect your long-term goals, your potential for specific injuries, how much rest you require, etc. A 65-year-old can be in much better shape than a 25-year-old, but age is essential to consider when customizing training programs, and not doing so is risky and unnecessary.

Physical Abilities

Everyone has unique physical abilities, which will affect the type of training you can do. Your physical skills are based on your genetics and the physical activities you've done throughout your life. You may be exceptionally flexible, but you can't jump high or some other combination that will affect which training techniques will work for you.

Physical Disabilities

Many people are limited in which physical training regimens they can do because they have physical disabilities. Whether they're caused by injuries, genetics, disease, etc., it's essential to consider your physical disabilities when creating a custom training program so you can develop workarounds to overcome them so they don't hinder your progress.

Experience

Did you spend years of your life running, swimming, playing basketball, etc.? Your experience will significantly affect what activities are included in your custom fitness training program. If you try to get someone who's never lifted weights before to start lifting as the central part of their fitness program, they'll likely struggle because it's not a familiar activity.

Available Time

Some people have many hours free every day that they're willing to dedicate to their fitness training program, while others may only have a few hours a week. A fitness trainer will need to know when you'll be available to work out so they can create your custom plan and ensure that you can still achieve your goals.

Budget

How much money can you invest in your customized training program? Will you be able to afford the equipment, a gym membership, healthier foods, etc.? You can create a custom training program for any budget, but it's essential to know what yours is, so you know your limitations.
