About Me

Yoga and The Art of Exercise

Welcome to my website. I am a working mom who teaches yoga downtown. My yoga studio often features the art of local artists on its walls. I love everything that makes life more beautiful, which includes both art and yoga. I created this website to share my love of both of these things, but posts will lean more heavily towards exercise topics. Even if yoga is too "zen" for you, there are other forms of exercise that can help you appreciate the beauty of the world around you, including running and hiking. Read on for tips, tricks and encouraging posts.

Why You Should Join a Rock Climbing League

If there's a rock climbing gym near where you live, it's a good idea to browse the gym's website to see what programs it offers. Something that you'll often find is a rock climbing league. These leagues differ in structure from gym to gym, but typically involve getting together at certain times of the week, and climbing with a group of other like-minded people. These leagues generally have a competitive element to them. For example, you might belong to one team in the league that competes against another team. There are several reasons why joining a rock climbing league can be a good idea, including the following:

Pushing Yourself To Get Better

Taking part in a climbing league can often encourage you to push yourself to get better. The more skills that you have, the more that you'll help your team throughout the league's season. This may increase your team's chance of being crowned champions at the end of the season, which could earn you a trophy, a medal, or some other form of recognition. Without belonging to a league, you may find that you don't push yourself to enhance your skills nearly as much. When you're in a league, you might decide to visit the gym multiple times a week on your own with the goal of getting better.

Social Aspect

It's impossible to join a rock climbing league without benefiting from the social aspect of this activity. If you're the type of person who enjoys meeting new friends, you'll have this opportunity when you join a climbing league. Your shared interest in rock climbing can be a good way to break the ice, and you may find that you quickly make friends with several people on your team and even on other teams. If you're someone who perhaps struggles to make friends, this environment may make getting to know people easier for you.

Opportunity To Travel

Depending on how seriously you take rock climbing, there may be an opportunity to attend different climbing events around your city, state, or even beyond. For example, if you eventually improve your skills to be a high-level climber, you might join an elite league at your gym that takes part in competitions against teams from other gyms. It can be exciting to visit new locations and test your skills on their climbing walls, especially when you're doing so as a member of a team. Visit your local rock climbing gym's website to learn more about climbing leagues.
